Global Innovative Resources Gathered in Jiangbei New Area for Gene and Cell Lab

On March 4, Nanjing Jiangbei New Area started the construction of the Gene and Cell Laboratory, which will further gather high-quality global innovative resources and cutting-edge technology projects, strengthen international cooperation, speed up the transformation of research results, and create more leading advantages for the construction of "Gene City" with core technologies and industrial competitiveness.

At present, the new bio-pharmaceutical industry led by gene and cell technology shows extremely high application value in the treatment of cancer, blood disease, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other diseases. Under the support of the Biomedical Public Service Platform of Jiangbei New Area and its co-construction units, the lab now has a carrier space of 15,000 square meters, more than 5,000 sets of gene and cell related scientific instruments and equipment, and more than 300 professional service qualifications in 8 categories. In 2021, another 20,000 square meters of vector space will be added for gene and cell laboratories in Jiangbei New Area.

Gene and Cell Lab will launch and recruit innovative projects globally with the mode of project selection and investment transformation throughout the industry life cycle, and promote the development of a number of advanced and leading major science and technology innovation transformation projects in the Area.

The mission of Gene and Cell Lab is to bring together a group of global top scientific researchers to build key theoretical and technological breakthroughs in pharmaceutical R & D and production. Aiming at global advanced frontier technologies, the Lab will deepen innovation and exploration in the field of scientific basic research, fundamentally enhance the research capability of the pharmaceutical industry to overcome technical bottlenecks, accelerate the transformation of research and application of pharmaceutical scientific and technological achievements, and become an important engine driving regional scientific and technical strength and industrial development.
